A finite-volume algorithm for all speed flows
نویسندگان
چکیده
A new collocated finite volume-based solution procedure for predicting viscous compressible and incompressible flows is presented. The technique is equally applicable in the subsonic, transonic, and supersonic regimes. Pressure is selected as a dependent variable in preference to density because changes in pressure are significant at all speeds as opposed to variations in density which become very small at low Mach numbers. The newly developed algorithm has two new features; (i) the use of the Normalized Variable and Space Formulation methodology to bound the convective fluxes; and (ii) the use of a HighResolution scheme in calculating interface density values to enhance the shock capturing property of the algorithm.

A Composite Finite Difference Scheme for Subsonic Transonic Flows (RESEARCH NOTE).
This paper presents a simple and computationally-efficient algorithm for solving steady two-dimensional subsonic and transonic compressible flow over an airfoil. This work uses an interactive viscous-inviscid solution by incorporating the viscous effects in a thin shear-layer. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the Navier-Stokes equations to a parabolic set of coupled, non-linear partial diff...
متن کاملA Collocated Finite Volume Method for Predicting Flows at All Speeds
An existing two-dimensional method for the prediction of steady-state incompressible flows in complex geometry is extended to treat also compressible flows at all speeds. The primary variables are the Cartesian velocity components, pressure and temperature. Density is linked to pressure via an equation of state. The influence of pressure on density in the case of compressible flows is implicitl...
متن کاملA High-Order Central ENO Finite-Volume Scheme for Three-Dimensional Turbulent Reactive Flows on Unstructured Mesh
High-order discretization techniques offer the potential to significantly reduce the computational costs necessary to obtain accurate predictions when compared to lower-order methods. However, efficient, universallyapplicable, high-order discretizations remain somewhat illusive, especially for more arbitrary unstructured meshes and for large-eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent reacting flows. A ...

VULCAN (Viscous Upwind aLgorithm for Complex flow ANalysis) is a cell centered, finite volume code used to solve high speed flows related to hypersonic vehicles. Two algorithms are presented for expanding the range of applications of the current Navier-Stokes solver implemented in VULCAN. The first addition is a highly implicit approach that uses subiterations to enhance block to block connecti...
متن کاملEffect of Elasticity Parameter on Viscoelastic Fluid in Pipe Flow Using Extended Pom-Pom Model
In this study prediction of the steady-state flow of branched polymer melts in pipe geometry with finite volume method is presented. Our analysis in this study revealed that;for normal-stress tqq , the XPP model can predict this tensor unlike the other viscoelastic models such as PTT or Gieskus which can not predict tqq...
